I coach Black women (and other women of color) who are on the journey to freedom.
I am a certified coach and also hold an ACC credential through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
After two decades of working in the social sector (nonprofits and foundations), I have enjoyed adding coaching to my professional experience. You can learn more about my coaching story and why I believe in coaching here.
Curious about coaching?
Every coach has their own unique approach. For example, I am not an executive coach though I do coach executives. Most of my coach partners are Black women in leadership across varying industries – nonprofits, philanthropy, government, and education. What connects them is their experiences as Black women in positions of power.
So what does coaching look like? Individuals set specific goals that become the topics for each session. In coaching groups, participants sign up because they are interested in the pre-determined focus.
But what’s the goal?
Many of the Black women I coach are overachievers. The goal of coaching take the leaders gaze off of the day-to-day tasks and help them get clarity about the vision they want to bring to fruition. To get there, they must know and love their leadership approach so they are free to take risks necessary to have big impact.
As a fellow Black woman in leadership, I don’t think we need more strategies to have an impact. Yeah, I said it. You already know about leadership assessments, SMART goals, and the like.
I believe we need more light. More healing. More time and space that is free from systems that are killing our confidence and love for our work. As a coach, I promise to create a free and loving space that allows you to deepen and sustain your leadership.
