Hi, my name is Kelli. I support Black women on their freedom journeys.
For years I struggled with frequent burnout from work while trying to manage the rest of my life.
My work and educational environments being predominantly white led me to center using my intellect to guide me through my career. One day I looked up and I felt like I was drowning – failing – at everything.
My to-do lists and career goals were no match for feeling misaligned.
So what changed for me?
Getting a professional coach. I was alike whaaaat?!? This is a thing??
Coaching put me on the path to love + freedom.
My first coach was the first time as a Black woman that I had someone to help me check in with myself to see if I was headed down the career path for ME. It was the first time I had a safe space to talk about what it meant being the only Black person in most of my meetings. My second coach helped me move from a goal of balance to one of harmony. That coaching experience allowed me to see what was possible in having the various parts of my life that actually works together.
Today, I am sometimes the only Black face I see all day but I’m different. I show up in all my Blackness. Locs. Hearty laugh. And all that intellect moving through my body instead of being trapped in my head.
So here I am years later still getting coached but now also COACHING. Isn’t that a full circle? I coach because I want to give other Black women the opportunity to center themselves and what they want personally and professionally. This is a tool FOR US.
My life is no less hectic today. I have not reached a state of perfection. Instead, I have learned to operationalize tools that keep me self-aware and reel me back in before I spiral too far into the land of the overwhelmed.
Today my actions better demonstrate that I love my family, community AND myself. I feel free(er). Now I pursue justice for others and my own freedom from expectations, fear, and doubt. I can proudly say I lead with my Blackness in my personal and professional life. My journey to this place continues to be guided by a mix of personal development, collective care, and a spiritual practice to keep me grounded and helps me heal.
